Do VMS Students Have a Valentine?

Autumn Couch, Contributor

For 1,527 years Valentine’s Day has been around. We celebrate it with a loved one, but it was started by Emperor Claudius II executed two men both named Valentine on Feb. 14 of different years in the third century. Their martyrdom was honored by the Catholic Church with the celebration of St. Valentine’s Day. Going around the school, I asked VMS students if they had a Valentine and what they are doing.

First, I asked Ava if she had a Valentine and she yes, it is Ben. Their plans are to go to the beach and have a picnic watching the sunset. They think they are going to have Publix subs.

Next, the person I asked was Jadyn and she said her valentine is Peter. Their plans are to go over to Jadyn’s house and have dinner with her family. After they are going to watch a movie and exchange gifts.

Another person is Haley, and her valentine is Aidan. They are going to go downtown to go out to eat and get ice cream. Then they’re, going back to Haley’s house, watching a movie, and swimming.

The last person is me and my valentine is Kyle. We are doing friend Valentine. We are going to have a sleepover. Our plans are to watch the sunset and then go downtown and take pictures. Then watch a movie and go night swimming.

Traditions change over the years, but it is not always so bad to change the tradition. It is carried on celebrating the holiday with your friends or your loved one. Even VMS students celebrate this holiday.
